Unfortunately the groom wedding speech isn’t a completely free piece of writing – It is there as a way to make sure you don’t leave anyone out. It took me a long time to realize, but basically it’s about keeping everyone happy to ensure your wedding day goes perfectly!

Knowing Who To Thank

Generally you should make sure you thank everyone for turning up and anyone resonsible for getting you there on time. Whether that was my lovely bride, my best man, everyone who gave me advice – I made sure to thank them. And don’t forget the father of the bride!

As a side note – did you know that the grooms speech is the most formal of all the wedding speeches? This doesn’t mean you can’t have a joke or two up your sleeve! Click here to learn more: Grooms Speach.

Mentioning Your Bride and Family

You should mention how you met (even though everyone has heard it a thousand times!). This always goes down well, and is a great for all of those who have made such an effort to be there on your big day.

This is an opportunity to praise family members and close friends and throw in anecdotes to show your audience what they mean to you. They may not have had a direct part in the wedding but they may have played a special part in your life.

Here is a quick summary

  • Thank the Bride’s father for proposing the toast
  • Thank those who have helped organize and plan the event
  • Thank the Bridesmaids
  • Thank your Best man
  • Thank your lovely new wife!
  • Thank the Guests

Remember, your wedding day is about the love for your bride, but it’s also about having family and friends around you. It really is about keeping every one of the wedding guests happy. And by finishing with a perfect groom toast to your new bride, it shouldn’t be that difficult!Even though I was really nervous about my groom wedding speech, it didn’t take me long to realize that it isn’t too hard to please everybody if you’re careful!
